Police recapture 30‑year sentenced fugitive in Santiago, Dominican Republic

National Police agents from the Division of Investigation of Crimes and Crimes Against Persons arrested José Félix García Nuñez, 51, who had been on the run since escaping the Rafey Hombres correctional center on 8 May 2025. García Nuñez was serving a 30‑year sentence for aggravated homicide and robbery. The arrest was carried out in Santiago de los Caballeros in compliance with an order issued by the Second Chamber of the Execution Court of the Santiago Judicial Department. After his capture, the fugitive was placed under the custody of the Department of Fugitive Capture of the Santiago Prosecutor’s Office for further legal processing.
