Police record 17 arrests and 49 road accidents in Portugal's Aveiro district
The Public Security Police (PSP) reported 17 arrests and 49 road accidents in the Aveiro district between 12 June and 19 June. Most detentions occurred in the municipality of Aveiro and involved offenses such as driving under the influence of alcohol, driving without a licence, drug trafficking, resistance to officers and the execution of court warrants. The accidents caused 20 minor injuries and one serious injury, an increase from the previous week’s 45 accidents and 11 minor injuries.
PSP officials urged drivers to respect speed limits, avoid alcohol or drug use, use electronic devices responsibly and follow traffic rules. In parallel, the district command carried out 11 community‑based road‑safety initiatives under its Integrated Proximity Policing Model, engaging 351 participants to raise awareness on safe driving, fraud prevention and child safety.
