Police recover 300,000 PLN after woman accidentally discards commode containing life savings

Police in Poland have recovered approximately 300,000 PLN (over 50,000 EUR) after a woman accidentally discarded a commode containing her life savings during a home renovation in Warzymice, near Szczecin.

The owner realized the mistake after the furniture had already been removed from the waste collection point. Following a search involving police investigation and the analysis of surveillance footage, authorities tracked the furniture to an apartment in Szczecin.

While the cash has been returned to the owner, a woman who took possession of the money is facing charges for the appropriation of found property. Under Polish law, such an act can carry a penalty of up to three years in prison.
