Police recover stolen vehicles in Peru and Chile

Police in Peru and Chile have successfully recovered stolen vehicles in separate incidents.

In Peru, the DIVINCRI Chimbote special team located a blue Futon double-axle truck belonging to Orquesta Gemma in Trujillo. The vehicle had been reported stolen on October 1 in Chimbote. The recovery followed the arrest of José Luis Ríos Espinoza, a suspected leader of the “Los Correcaminos de Santa” criminal gang. Authorities are investigating the gang's alleged involvement in vehicle theft used for extortion purposes.

In Chile, Carabineros recovered a pickup truck in the El Loa border zone, more than 2,000 kilometers away from where it was stolen in Concepción, Biobío Region. The vehicle was found abandoned near the Ojos de San Pedro sector. Although the installed license plates were reported lost, police identified the vehicle's true identity through the serial numbers etched on the glass, confirming it was the unit stolen on October 4.
