Chilean prosecutors seek 22 years for Jorge Valdivia

The Chilean Public Ministry has requested a 22-year prison sentence for former footballer Jorge Valdivia following investigations into sexual crimes. The prosecution is seeking 12 years for rape and 10 years for alleged sexual abuse.

The allegations involve two separate incidents reported in October 2024. One complainant, a tattoo artist, reported losing consciousness after consuming drinks with Valdivia at a restaurant. A second complaint detailed an incident at a restaurant in Vitacura.

Valdivia, 42, denies the accusations, with his defense maintaining that the encounters were consensual. The investigation has included the examination of messages between Valdivia and former Chilean deputy Maite Orsini, who is listed as a witness. Valdivia had previously undergone periods of preventive detention and house arrest during the legal proceedings.
