French police bust drug trafficking networks in Reims and across France‑Belgium‑Mauritania

In Reims, French authorities arrested five suspects after a raid uncovered roughly 3 kg of cannabis resin, 138 g of ecstasy, MDMA, €1,300 in cash, two firearms, ammunition and a €32,000 Volkswagen Tiguan. Four detainees were placed in pre‑trial detention and the fifth placed under judicial supervision; all will appear before a criminal court on 3 July for charges of drug trafficking, money laundering and illegal weapons possession.

Separately, a wider anti‑drug operation dismantled a money‑laundering network operating between France, Belgium and Mauritania. Fifteen people were apprehended and 50 kg of cocaine and nearly €8 million in assets were seized. The investigation, coordinated by French anti‑drug and financial crime units and Belgian police, also recovered €500 000 in cash and identified a Brussels‑based vehicle‑trading company used to funnel illicit proceeds. Collectors were arrested in locations including Massy, Haÿ‑les‑Roses, Alfortville and Brussels, with several suspects now in custody or released on bail.
