UK police seize illegal e‑scooters and bikes in anti‑social crackdown
Police in Dartford, Kent, carried out a seven‑hour operation on 9 May 2026 that seized seven illegal e‑scooters and resulted in multiple arrests. Officers from the Neighbourhood Task Force, Dartford Beat team, Road Safety Unit and Specials Constabulary stopped three individuals in Swanscombe, arresting them on suspicion of drug supply, and made additional arrests for suspected drug‑driving, possession of an offensive weapon, common assault and public‑order offences, including the seizure of two knives. Sergeant Molly Irwin highlighted the success of the coordinated effort and the aim of removing nuisance vehicles linked to criminal activity.
Similar actions were reported in Northumberland towns, where police and partner agencies targeted illegal riders of motorcycles, electric bikes and scooters, seizing vehicles and enforcing anti‑social behaviour laws. Both operations reflect a broader police focus on removing unlawful electric transport and associated disorder across English communities.
