K. T. Rama Rao’s aides summoned by police over Assembly protest
Police in Telangana have issued notices to the personal assistant and public relations officer of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president K. T. Rama Rao (KTR) for questioning. The notices follow a September 7 scuffle at the Telangana Legislative Assembly entrance, where BRS legislators were prevented from entering while wearing black shirts with political slogans.
Multiple FIRs have been registered against KTR and several BRS MLAs and MLCs, including charges of obstructing police, criminal intimidation, and outraging the modesty of women officers. Conversely, BRS leaders have alleged that police personnel manhandled women legislators during the confrontation. KTR has further alleged that his aides were attacked inside a police station, a claim the Hyderabad police have dismissed as unfounded after reviewing CCTV footage.
While the Telangana High Court has granted interim relief to KTR’s aides to prevent coercive action, it has permitted the police to continue their investigation.
