Police thwart armed robbery at Mass store in Piura, Peru

Police sub‑officer Miguel Morales Montalván confronted an armed suspect during an attempted robbery at a Mass supermarket in the Los Olivos settlement of Piura’s Veintiséis de Octubre district. The suspect, identified as 26‑year‑old Alex Solano Arévalo of the “Los finos de Los Algarrobos” gang, was restrained inside the store with the assistance of staff while his accomplice fled on a motorcycle. Officers from the Los Algarrobos police station later arrived, seized a pistol, a mobile phone and cash from Solano, and took him to the station on aggravated robbery charges. The incident occurred around 8:45 p.m. on Sunday.
