Sutrimo death investigation enters exhumation phase in Banyumas

Police in Indonesia have escalated the investigation into the death of Sutrimo to a formal criminal inquiry. On August 12, 2026, authorities conducted an exhumation of Sutrimo’s body in Banyumas, Central Java, to seek scientific evidence regarding his cause of death.

Sutrimo was found unconscious in front of a clinic in Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, on July 23, 2026, and subsequently died. While some reports identified him as the household manager for former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes Febrie Adriansyah, legal counsel for Adriansyah clarified that Sutrimo was actually employed to guard an empty building, specifically the Mordent Aesthetic Clinic.

A joint forensic team from the Indonesian Association of Forensic and Medico-legal Doctors (PDFMI) performed the exhumation, which included external and internal examinations. Initial visual inspections by forensic experts reported no signs of sharp or blunt force trauma. However, the exact cause of death remains undetermined as investigators await laboratory results from histopathology and toxicology tests, which are expected in two to three weeks. The legal team for Adriansyah has requested that the public avoid speculating on the death or linking it to Adriansyah’s ongoing legal matters.
