Polish agricultural market sees rising grain prices and regional debt shifts

The Polish grain market is experiencing a price surge, with corn prices reaching 1,000 PLN per ton and wheat prices also rising. Despite these higher rates, trade has slowed significantly as farmers withhold grain from sale, anticipating even higher prices in the near future.

In terms of financial stability, agricultural debt in Poland has reached its lowest total value in five years. However, this national decline masks regional disparities. While debt decreased in provinces like Podlaskie and Wielkopolskie, it rose in nine other regions. The Lubelskie region saw the largest increase in total debt value, while the Lubuskie and Małopolskie provinces experienced the fastest growth rates. Additionally, while the total amount owed has dropped, the number of unreliable debtors has actually increased.
