Polish agricultural sector faces rising fertilizer costs and lower tax rates
Polish farmers are facing mixed economic signals regarding input costs and taxation. Phosphorus fertilizer prices are rising, with Diammonium Phosphate (DAP) reaching average prices of 4,250 PLN per tonne. Ammonium phosphates have increased by an average of 90 PLN per tonne since mid-September, representing a 22 percent rise compared to levels before the conflict in Iran. Superphosphate prices have also climbed, driven by a sharp increase in sulfur costs due to demand in the defense industry.
In contrast, agricultural tax rates in Poland are set to decrease for 2027. Following the announcement by the Central Statistical Office (GUS) of a lower average rye price of 62 PLN per 1 dt, statutory tax rates will drop by approximately 6.7 percent compared to 2026. For agricultural holdings, the tax will be 155 PLN per conversion hectare, while for other agricultural lands, it will be 310 PLN per physical hectare.
