Polish Air Navigation Agency funds seized over Pfizer vaccine dispute

Eurocontrol has frozen the Polish Air Navigation Agency’s (PAŻP) route‑fee revenues—accounting for more than 80% of the agency’s income—following a Belgian court ruling that favours Pfizer in a contract dispute over COVID‑19 vaccine deliveries. The court ordered Poland to accept roughly 64 million vaccine doses and to pay Pfizer about 5.6 billion zł, plus legal costs. PAŻP, which was not a party to the vaccine case, lodged a formal objection and is cooperating with the Polish Treasury and the Prosecutor General to protect its rights. The agency emphasizes that the seizure does not threaten air‑traffic safety and that the government plans to appeal the decision within the 60‑day deadline. The episode marks a precedent for using Eurocontrol to enforce a judgment against an EU member state.
