Warsaw jewelry heist suspect apprehended
A 46-year-old Serbian national has been apprehended and transported to Poland following a high-profile jewelry heist at the Mokotów Gallery in Warsaw. The suspect, who was detained while crossing the Serbian-Croatian border, is scheduled to face charges of robbery and participation in an organized criminal group.
The robbery occurred on December 30, 2024, when three men disguised as food delivery workers entered the jewelry store. Using hammers to smash display cases and a firearm to intimidate staff, the group stole luxury watches valued at approximately 2 million PLN in just 86 seconds before fleeing on electric scooters.
Investigators have linked the heist to the ‘Pink Panthers’, an international criminal organization known for rapid, highly coordinated robberies of luxury goods. While the suspect is now in Polish custody, authorities are still searching for the remaining four suspects involved in the operation.
