Polish Autocasco premiums driven by car value, driver record and age limits

Autocasco (AC) is a voluntary car insurance in Poland that covers collision, theft, vandalism and other risks. Premiums can differ sharply between insurers and individual policies.

The main determinants of the AC premium are the vehicle’s market value, make, model, age, mileage and repair costs, as well as the driver’s age, years of experience, claim history and place of use. A higher‑priced or luxury car, a younger driver or a history of accidents usually leads to a higher price, while long periods without claims can bring discounts.

Insurers also set age limits for new AC contracts. Most limit coverage to cars 15–20 years old, though some, such as PZU, impose no age ceiling and others accept cars up to 30 years. For older, low‑value vehicles insurers may offer a “minicasco” covering only theft or total loss. When a policy is renewed with the same company, the insurer often does not re‑verify the car’s age, allowing continued protection even as the vehicle ages beyond the original limit.
