Polish aviation sector develops new baggage technology and infrastructure plans
Dimark is developing new baggage handling system (BHS) technology aimed at increasing the speed and flexibility of airport baggage processing. Błażej Nowakowski, Vice President and Technical Director at Dimark, announced that the company intends to present this solution next year. The technology is expected to be tested in cooperation with entities including Polskie Porty Lotnicze.
Separately, Polska Grupa Lotnicza (PGL) is preparing for significant infrastructure investments related to the development of Port Polska. This includes the necessity to transfer technical and handling operations from Warsaw Chopin Airport to the new port. PGL President Radosław Stępień emphasized the importance of synchronizing these investments with the airport's launch timeline to avoid business disruptions. The group also plans to continue investing in regional airports, such as Rzeszów and Katowice, and will utilize PGL Infrastruktura to manage new hangars and technical facilities.
