Polish banking sector sees shifts in deposit rates and market growth
The Polish banking sector is experiencing significant activity regarding both deposit rates and stock market performance. A recent ranking of annual bank deposits shows Inbank leading with a 4.15% annual rate, requiring no additional conditions for deposits up to 50,000 PLN. CA Auto Bank has moved into second place with a 4.10% rate for clients using the Raisin platform, while BFF Banking Group, Toyota Bank, and Raiffeisen Digital Bank offer 4% rates.
On the market side, the WIG-banki index has shown substantial growth, increasing more than sixfold over the last four years. Despite expectations of interest rate cuts, the sector continues to see strong performance. Analysts suggest that rising inflation pressure in Poland may lead to interest rate hikes, similar to recent actions by the European Central Bank and the US Federal Reserve, which could further support bank interest income and overall profitability.
