Grupa Azoty and PZU report significant corporate developments
Grupa Azoty has notified the prosecutor's office regarding the Polimery Police investment project. Małgorzata Królak, president of Grupa Azoty Polyolefins, stated that the company faces multi-billion PLN damages that could lead to bankruptcy. The allegations include decisions to scale the investment against known risks, excessive debt, and misleading the public. Additionally, the company suspects criminal activity related to starting production in 2023 without required permits, potentially endangering workers and residents.
Separately, Grupa PZU reported its financial results for the first half of 2026. Despite market challenges such as the war in Ukraine and interest rate fluctuations, the group achieved insurance revenues of approximately 15.7 billion PLN. While net profit for the first half was over 5.7 billion PLN—a decrease from the previous year—the company announced a record dividend for shareholders of 4.8 PLN per share. The results were supported by growth in life and property insurance segments, though contributions from group banks Pekao and Alior were lower due to regulatory and economic factors.
