Polish Catholic Church marks 18th Sunday of liturgical year and hosts Warsaw Academic Pilgrimage

On 2 August 2026 the parish of St Stanislaw Bishop Martyr in Czernice Borowe celebrated the eighteenth Sunday of the Roman Catholic liturgical year, recalling God’s care and the miracle of the loaves. The service highlighted August as a month of agricultural hardship, Marian pilgrimages and national abstinence, invoking saints such as Maximilian Kolbe, Stefan Wyszyński and John Paul II. Two priests, Fr Łukasz Gach and Fr Piotr Orliński, participated and will be reassigned to new parishes later in the month. After Mass, an adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and a procession were held, referencing St Francis of Assisi’s Porziuncola indulgence approved by Pope Paul VI.

Separately, the 46th Warsaw Academic Pilgrimage Metropolitalna offered a daily reflection on the Parable of the Good Samaritan (Luke 10:30‑37), urging believers to practice mercy through simple, compassionate actions. Audio versions of the reflection are available online.
