Polish cities broaden traffic restriction zones in Warsaw and Katowice

From 7 September, Warsaw will enlarge its unpaid paid‑parking zone to include parts of Mokotów, Praga‑Południe, Wola and Włochy, with a further expansion slated for 17 May 2027 to cover additional districts such as Służewiec and Raków. The changes aim to boost parking turnover, limit car traffic in selected areas and promote public transport.

Katowice’s clean‑transport zone is set to become operational on 29 June 2026. The zone will cover a defined part of the city centre, restricting entry for vehicles that do not meet specified emission standards. The measure follows high NO₂ readings from a sensor near the A4 highway, EU and national climate commitments, and funding from the National Recovery Plan. Exemptions include access to a hospital and certain streets on the zone’s perimeter.
