Polish cities Bydgoszcz and Wrocław approve new bike road projects

The Bydgoszcz metropolitan area will create a cohesive network of bicycle routes linking the city with the neighboring gminas of Osielsko, Dobrcz and Sicienko. Tenders have been announced for sections along M. Kolbego Street in Osowa Góra, Wyzwolenia Street in Fordon, and Pod Skarpą Street. The projects will use European Union funding allocated to the Kujawy and Pomerania region for 2021‑27 and are expected to be completed within roughly five months once contracts are signed.

In Wrocław, the city is preparing a new two‑way bike path along Żmigrodzka Street, connecting the Polanka estate with Broniewskiego Street. Six firms have submitted bids, with offers ranging from 2.6 million to 4 million złoty, well above the initially planned 1.5 million zł budget. The plan includes green planting, lighting, and a dedicated crossing, and is partially co‑financed by the European Union. A final contractor will be selected soon.
