Poland pushes forward with extensive road and highway upgrades

Several Polish regions are undertaking major road works in 2026‑2027. The S74 expressway segment between Mniów and Kielce is 65 % complete, with two new junctions, 15 engineering structures and environmental measures, and is slated for completion by mid‑2027 at a cost of about 537 million zł. In Warsaw, more than 500 summer road and tram projects—including resurfacing of major avenues and temporary traffic reorganisations—are scheduled to finish by 1 September. Katowice is implementing new lane reductions and a cyclist path on Francuska Street, alongside a new A4 highway exit, with works continuing into early 2027. Additional local upgrades include the reconstruction of a 950‑metre stretch in Dobrzejowice, a kilometre‑long road near Pawłowice, and the rebuilding of a road in Dobrzejowice funded with 2.2 million zł. Other projects involve the refurbishment of streets in Kalisz, Rybnik, and the expansion of DK55 near Sztum, a 9.9‑km bypass slated for 2029. Collectively, these initiatives invest tens of millions of zlotys to improve traffic safety, reduce congestion and modernise regional transport networks.
