Polish cities expand public transport infrastructure and ticketing systems

Warsaw has extended its network of dedicated bus lanes from 48 km in 2015 to 85.6 km in 2025, adding new sections on streets such as Modlińska, Jagiellońska, Radzymińska and Al. Zieleniecka. The expansion is coordinated by the city's Traffic Management Office and Road Management Board and is intended to reduce congestion, cut emissions and improve travel times for thousands of passengers.

In Poznań, Mayor Jacek Jaśkowiak announced a contract to modernise and enlarge the PEKI electronic ticketing system. The upgrade will introduce roughly 5,000 new onboard ticket validators with QR‑code readers, streamline fare calculation by the number of stops travelled, and provide new options for ticket purchase and verification. The project is funded partly by European Union money and is expected to deliver benefits to commuters by 2028.
