Polish cities hold council sessions on participatory budgeting and hospital reforms

In Bydgoszcz, representatives of neighbourhood councils met on 10 April to discuss revisions to the city’s Participatory Budget (BBO). The consultation, running from 31 March to 21 April, seeks public input on the program’s regulations. Projects highlighted include lighting a pathway along the Bydgoszcz Canal in the Flisy district, a “Fairy Tale Play Kingdom” at School No 7 in Błonie, and a micro‑project bicycle‑repair station at Błonie Train Station. The councils will forward opinions to the City Participation Council for recommendations on the next BBO edition.

Meanwhile, Kraków’s City Council convened for its 53rd session on 10 June 2026. The agenda covered municipal finance oversight, preferred long‑term loans from the Bank of Rural Development, and rules for leasing commercial premises. Officials also debated a proposal to merge the municipal Narutowicz Hospital with the Military Hospital, creating a new Military Medical Institute. The discussion, backed by the city mayor and the Ministry of National Defence, aimed to improve medical services and address the Narutowicz Hospital’s debt, though no final decision was taken.
