Polish cities launch major urban redevelopment projects in Łódź and Jaworzno

In Łódź, the former Uniontex factory site at the junction of Kilińskiego, Tymienieckiego and Milionowa streets is set to become the "Nowa Tkalnia" mixed‑use complex. The plan combines new residential units, modern service facilities and green areas while preserving sections of the historic Scheibler textile mill walls, a site linked to a 1987 visit by Pope John Paul II.

In Jaworzno, the former Piłsudski mine spoil heap on Radwańskich and Jana Pawła II streets will be transformed into a 9‑hectare shopping and services centre of roughly 36,500 m². The project, undertaken by Stary Stadion Zdebel Spółka Komandytowa of Bytom, includes height limits of 16 m, mandatory green zones, parking provisions and bicycle facilities. Public consultations with residents run until 14 July 2026, after which the local spatial development plan will be adopted.

Both initiatives aim to revitalize post‑industrial areas, create new housing and commercial opportunities, and integrate contemporary urban design with environmental considerations.
