Polish cities launch new municipal housing projects
In Starachowice, the historic Giepardów building on Kolejowa Street is being converted into 24 municipal apartments. The renovation, overseen by Mayor Marek Materek and the Starachowice Social Housing Society (STBS), will provide 20 standard units and four accessible flats on the ground floor, with a new adjacent two‑storey block adding four more homes and garage space. The project preserves the 19th‑century façade while adding modern amenities.
In Gdańsk, the city continues to allocate communal housing, planning to hand over keys to 25 apartments in June. Ten units in a refurbished building at Dolna 10A will be delivered on 10 June, followed by fifteen apartments acquired under the PPP Nowy Port project between June and July. Allocation considers household size, ground‑floor needs and accessibility for disabled residents, aiming to expand the municipal housing stock through ongoing revitalisation and investment.
