Polish cities remind students of requirements for free public transit

Municipalities in Poland, including Suwałki and Szczecin, are reminding students of the specific documentation required to maintain free access to public transportation for the school year.

In Suwałki, students must present both a school ID and a valid Suwalska Karta Mieszkańca. Officials warn that while the physical card does not display an expiration date, its validity is stored electronically. Students can verify their card status via the eCityUp mobile application or the city's official website. Extensions can be processed in person at the Department of Social Affairs and Health or electronically.

In Szczecin and the surrounding Szczecin Metropolitan Area—including Police, Dobra, and Kołbaskowo—students must maintain a valid Szczecińska Karta Aglomeracyjna (SKA). To extend these rights for the 2026/2027 school year, students must visit a ZDiTM Customer Service Point in person with their SKA card, a valid school ID, and a certificate of residence issued by their school. Extensions cannot be completed online.
