Skra Częstochowa withdraws from Betclic III Liga due to financial crisis

Skra Częstochowa, a Polish football club celebrating its 100‑year anniversary, announced that its senior team will not take part in the Betclic III Liga for the 2026/27 season. The club cited an acute financial crisis: despite intensive talks with business partners, institutions and creditors, it could not secure the funding needed to cover the season’s operating costs.

The Polish Football Association (PZPN) also withheld payments to the club from the Pro Junior System for the 2023/24‑2025/26 seasons, removing a key pillar of the club’s budget. In a statement the club said, “Unfortunately, despite full commitment, determination and efforts, we could not secure financing that would guarantee stable and safe functioning of the senior team at Betclic III Liga.”

Skra had finished fourth in the previous campaign, narrowly missing promotion, but the financial shortfall forced the withdrawal. The decision creates a gap in the league schedule, leaving two vacant slots each round and raising concerns for the competition’s integrity. The same week, fellow third‑league side Słowianin Wolibórz also announced its exit, underlining broader financial pressures in Poland’s lower‑division football.
