Polish companies advance lunar exploration technology
Polish companies are expanding their presence in the global space sector through key lunar exploration projects. Creotech Instruments is leading a European consortium for the Twardowski mission, which aims to deploy a satellite using the Polish-developed HyperSat platform. The mission is designed to observe the Moon's surface in visible and infrared light to identify the distribution of rocks, minerals, and ice, which is critical for planning future lunar bases.
Additionally, the Polish startup MIRORES is developing a high-resolution spectrometer for the European Space Agency's (ESA) LUPE project. This instrument will map the lunar surface in mid- and far-infrared to pinpoint areas rich in resources. Such technology is essential for In-Situ Resource Utilization (ISRU), as identifying water, oxygen, and fuel deposits on the Moon can significantly reduce the costs of transporting materials from Earth.
