Polish counties fund family and disability support programs

The Powiat County Centre for Family Assistance in Kościerzyna launched the "Rodzina i ja – kompleksowe wsparcie" project, funded with 811,775 zł of EU co‑financing. Running from November 2024 to December 2026, it will support 104 individuals (including 30 people with disabilities) in six municipalities of the Kościerzyna district, aiming to prevent foster‑care placement and improve social integration.

In the neighboring Dzierżoniow district, the County Centre for Family Assistance and Health Care initiated the "Opieka wytchnieniowa" respite‑care programme, financed with 457,949.40 zł from the Solidarity Fund. The 2026 edition will provide day‑time respite services for 38 caregivers of 39 persons with severe disabilities, delivering 7,654 care hours, plus full‑time support for three additional caregivers. Participation is free for eligible families residing in the county.

Both initiatives are part of Poland’s local government efforts to strengthen family support and disability assistance in socially disadvantaged areas.
