Polish court rejects lift of European Arrest Warrant for Marcin Romanowski
The Warsaw District Court ruled on 10 July 2026 that it would not overturn the European Arrest Warrant (ENA) issued against Marcin Romanowski, a former deputy minister of justice and current PiS MP. Judge Anna Ptaszek announced, “Informuję, że postanowieniem z 10 lipca 2026 r. … Sąd Okręgowy w Warszawie nie uwzględnił wniosku obrony o uchylenie Europejskiego Nakazu Aresztowania”. Romanowski faces 19 charges linked to an investigation of irregularities in the Justice Fund.
Romanowski’s whereabouts remain unknown; media reports have placed him in Serbia and Croatia, though officials in those countries have not confirmed his presence. Justice Minister Waldemar Żurek said he held online discussions with the prosecutors general of Serbia and Croatia to seek cooperation regarding the case.
