Polish Court Sentences Aggressors Who Attacked Medical Rescue Workers

The Regional Court in Cieszyn handed down convictions in two separate incidents involving attacks on medical rescue workers. In the first case on 12 February 2026, a man verbally abused two rescuers with vulgar language and physically assaulted one, twisting his arm. He was sentenced on 21 July to five months’ imprisonment with a one‑year suspended sentence and ordered to pay a compensation of 1,500 zł.

The second incident occurred on 5 June 2026 at the Emergency Department on Bielska Street in Cieszyn, where the accused threatened a medical rescuer with death. The court, on 6 July, imposed a fine of 4,000 zł and also required payment of 1,500 zł compensation. Prosecutors emphasized that assaults on health‑care personnel are punishable as crimes against public officials, underscoring the legal protection afforded to medical staff.
