Violence against medical personnel in Poland

Overview

Incidents of violence against medical personnel have been reported in Poland. In Cieszyn, the Regional Court issued sentences following two separate attacks on rescue workers. One individual was sentenced to five months’ imprisonment with a suspended sentence for physical and verbal abuse, while another was fined and ordered to pay compensation after threatening a rescuer with death.

In a separate incident at the Wojewódzki Szpital Specjalistyczny in Częstochowa, a 20-year-old patient attacked staff in the Emergency Department. The assault injured four healthcare workers, including two paramedics and two nurses, with one paramedic requiring hospitalization for a head injury. Police intervened to subdue the attacker.
