Polish defence sector expands support for Ukraine's military and reconstruction

In a radio interview, State Assets Minister Wojciech Balczun said Polish businesses remain interested in Ukraine despite diplomatic friction over the Ukrainian Insurgent Army. He highlighted the role of Polish firms in reconstruction, noted competition from German, French and British companies, and addressed concerns about state‑owned enterprises such as Jastrzębska Spółka Węglowa. Balczun also spoke about the readiness of the Polish defence industry under the SAFE programme and the need for a large skilled workforce.

Polish Defence Group (PGZ) President Adam Leszkiewicz confirmed that cooperation with Ukraine has broadened beyond Krab self‑propelled howitzers to include repair and servicing of Ukrainian‑operated F‑16 and MiG‑29 jets, production of ammunition components and a new drone partnership with Ukrainian firm TAF Industries. At the International Reconstruction Conference in Gdańsk, more than 30 agreements worth over €1.5 billion were signed, further deepening the Poland‑Ukraine defence and rebuilding partnership.
