Polish Deputy Justice Minister Arkadiusz Myrcha Faces Loss of Immunity over Election‑Silence Violation

Deputy Justice Minister and Civic Coalition lawmaker Arkadiusz Myrcha is the subject of a prosecutor's request to the Sejm to lift his parliamentary immunity. The request alleges that, during the pre‑election silence period before the May 2025 presidential election, Myrcha posted on Facebook a graphic urging votes for Civic Coalition candidate Rafał Trzaskowski. The post appeared shortly after midnight, was removed after about three hours, and the minister apologized, calling it a "stupid mistake" and saying he is ready to cooperate with investigators.

The prosecutor has forwarded the case to the police and asked the Sejm speaker, Włodzimierz Czarzasty, to consider stripping Myrcha's immunity. Myrcha said he will waive his immunity as soon as the formal procedure allows. The filing notes that another Civic Coalition MP, Piotr Głowski, also breached the election‑silence rules on the X platform.

If Sejm authorities approve the request, Myrcha could face a fine ranging from 50 zloty to 5 000 zloty for violating Article 498 of the Polish Electoral Code.
