Polish doctors warn high blood pressure requires urgent care

Cardiologist Dr. Agata Bielecka‑Dąbrowa explains that hypertension often shows no symptoms until values exceed 180 mm Hg systolic or 110 mm Hg diastolic. At those levels, or when symptoms such as severe headache, chest pain, shortness of breath, vision changes or speech difficulty appear, she advises calling an ambulance immediately. Even occasional readings above 140/90 mm Hg merit a medical consultation.

A separate study of 15,000 participants found that regular isometric exercises—e.g., planks or wall squats performed three times a week—lowered blood pressure to a degree comparable with standard antihypertensive drugs. The routine also improved heart function, vascular health and autonomic nervous system performance, offering a simple, time‑efficient complement to medication for many patients.
