Polish farmers face online tractor fraud loss and tighter manure storage rules

A resident of the Opatów district lost 2,500 zł after paying a deposit for a advertised Ursus C‑330 tractor that never existed. Police in Opatów reported the fraud, urging farmers to verify sellers and avoid advance payments for online purchases.

Starting in 2026, Polish authorities will enforce stricter rules on the on‑field storage of natural fertilizers. Manure piles may remain on a single spot for no longer than six months, must be placed on suitable terrain, and kept at least 25 m from water sources, wells and residences. Violations can attract fines up to 4,563 zł, with additional penalties for documentation failures or repeat offenses. The changes aim to protect groundwater and improve compliance with the nitrate program.
