Polish farmers report profitability in soybean and sunflower crops
Agricultural reports from Poland indicate successful harvests for soybean and sunflower crops despite varying weather conditions.
In the Głubczyce region, soybean cultivation has shown stability and profitability. Farmers report purchase prices reaching 2,020 PLN per tonne. With average yields around 3 t/ha, gross revenue is approximately 6,000 PLN per hectare, against production costs estimated between 3,250 and 4,000 PLN per hectare. Soybeans are noted for having significantly lower pest pressure compared to rapeseed and benefit from area subsidies.
In the Mazovia region, sunflower harvests have concluded. On weaker soils, the crop yielded an average of approximately 2 t/ha. After drying costs, net revenue reached about 4,000 PLN per hectare. With production costs estimated at 2,000–2,300 PLN per hectare, farmers saw a surplus of 1,700–2,000 PLN per hectare excluding area subsidies. The sunflower production process was characterized by relatively simple and inexpensive technology, requiring minimal fertilization and protection treatments.
