Polish firm Advanced Protection Systems develops drone‑neutralising technology for NATO

Advanced Protection Systems (APS), founded by scientists Maciej Klemm and Radosław Piesiewicz about ten years ago, builds systems that detect and neutralise hostile drones. The company, based on experience from a radar project originally aimed at breast‑cancer detection, now targets defence applications to protect Poland and the eastern flank of NATO.

APS plans to commercialise the technology abroad, promoting Polish innovation in drone defence. In a scenario described by Forbes, an attack involving around 20 Russian drones could be countered using existing assets such as F‑16, F‑35, Patriot and AWACS, with APS' systems adding a cost‑effective layer—each hostile drone estimated at $10‑20 k, though official defence cost figures are not disclosed.
