Polish football clubs face heated fan‑ban dispute ahead of Ekstraklasa season
Śląsk Wrocław’s president Remigiusz Jezierski told TVP Sport that the controversy over denying Wisła Kraków supporters entry to the Tarczyński Arena is still being examined in football courts, saying, “Sytuacja cały czas jest procesowana w ‘sądach’ piłkarskich.” The Polish Football Association (PZPN) later imposed a record disciplinary fine of one million złoty on Śląsk, which the club’s Jarosław Królewski hailed as confirmation of the club’s responsibility.
The dispute follows a broader pattern of clubs allegedly colluding to exclude Wisła fans, a practice that prompted fines and even a walk‑over loss for Wisła in the 2023‑24 season. Cracovia, however, announced it will welcome Wisła supporters at its Pasów stadium for upcoming Kraków derbies, rejecting claims of a lingering “conspiracy” against the “White Star” supporters. The PZPN has begun imposing symbolic fines on clubs that refuse Wisła fans, aiming to deter future exclusions.
The issue underscores tensions between Polish clubs over fan safety, stadium renovations and adherence to league regulations, with legal and financial repercussions continuing to unfold.
