Polish guidelines for disposing of window‑plastic packaging
Cardboard boxes that include a transparent plastic window – commonly used for chocolates, toys, cosmetics and similar items – should be sorted by material. If the cardboard and the plastic window can be separated easily, the cardboard part belongs in the blue paper recycling bin, while the plastic window should go to the yellow bin for metals and plastics. When the two parts cannot be detached, the whole package must be placed in the mixed‑waste container.
Boxes that are heavily soiled with grease, sauce or other food residues are not suitable for paper recycling because the contaminants damage the fibre. Such dirty cardboard should also be disposed of as mixed waste.
