Polish health programs funded for cancer screening and glioma research
The municipality of Żukowice will launch a free preventive health program covering thyroid disease screening for adults, prostate cancer testing for men aged 50 and over, and breast cancer screening for adult women. The initiative is financed with almost 75,000 zł from the KGHM Polska Miedź Foundation and will provide completely free medical packages to all residents.
The National Oncology Institute in Gliwice has been awarded more than 11.1 million zł by the Medical Research Agency to develop new treatments for multifocal glioma. The project will focus on targeted radioisotope therapy, advanced PET imaging, and combined therapeutic approaches, with the goal of producing radiopharmaceuticals for future clinical trials. Research will be conducted in partnership with the Silesian Medical University in Katowice and industry collaborators.
