Polish health sector reports Kolbuszowa oncology leadership and launches free colorectal screening in Wielkopolska

The County Hospital in Kolbuszowa was identified as the regional leader in urological oncology for 2025, performing 188 prostate cancer operations and 88 kidney cancer surgeries – the highest numbers in the Subcarpathian region. The department achieved an over‑80% rate of kidney‑sparing procedures and plans to acquire a surgical robot and advanced intra‑operative ultrasound to further improve precision.

Separately, the Centre for Cancer Prevention and Epidemiology in Poznań is running a €‑funded programme offering free lower‑bowel cancer screening to residents of Greater Poland aged 50‑74. Participants receive a FIT test and, if positive, a no‑referral colonoscopy with travel and preparation costs covered. In Ostrow Wielkopolski, a single‑time education session and sample collection will occur on 6‑7 July 2026, marking the only opportunity for free screening in that town during the 2024‑2027 project.
