Heat pump sales surge in Poland and Germany in H1 2026
Poland's heat‑pump market rebounded in the first half of 2026, with overall sales to wholesalers and installers rising 18 % year‑on‑year. Ground‑source units led the growth, up 57 % in the first six months and 77 % in the second quarter, while air‑water split models remained dominant, selling roughly three times more than monoblock units. Air‑water sales grew 15 %, monoblocks 19 % and splits 14 %. The only segment that fell was water‑only units for domestic hot‑water preparation, down 34 %. Industry body PORT PC estimates that 2026 will see about 71 000 air‑water, 9.9 000 ground‑source and 3.7 000 water‑only pumps sold in Poland, and forecasts a continued but modest recovery. PORT PC president Paweł Lachman said the market needs stable electricity‑to‑fuel price ratios, predictable support programmes and higher installation quality.
In Germany, the Bundesverband Wärmepumpe (BWP) reported a 40 % increase in heat‑pump shipments to wholesalers and installers in the first half of 2026 compared with the previous year. BWP managing director Dr. Martin Sabel attributed the rise to growing consumer awareness of the risks of fossil‑fuel heating and to the success of the federal Building‑Efficiency Grant (BEG), which is set to continue through 2030. He also welcomed the new Building Modernisation Act (GModG) for providing clearer guidance to consumers and installers, expecting the trend toward heat pumps to persist despite the act still allowing gas and oil boiler installations.
