This disparity contributes to heat pumps accounting for roughly 28% of German sales compared to over 90% in Sweden. To improve competitiveness, the IEA suggests reducing taxes on heating electricity and implementing time-variable electricity tariffs, citing Denmark and Finland as successful models. In the United Kingdom, homeowners are transitioning from fossil fuels, supported by government grants through the Boiler Upgrade Scheme.
