Polish heating industry calls for realistic, hybrid energy transition as climate costs loom
Industry leaders Janusz Starościk, Bartosz Kwiatkowski and Damian Majer urged a pragmatic, technology‑neutral approach to Poland’s heating sector transformation. They emphasized hybrid solutions, staged decarbonisation and the need to curb smog, which they said causes about 40,000 premature deaths each year in Poland.
At the same time, Confederation activist Marek Tucholski warned that the United Kingdom’s climate‑policy costs are projected to reach £40 billion annually, according to the Prosperity Institute, and cautioned that Poland could face similar financial burdens if it follows the same path. He highlighted rising household electricity bills and the growth of community “warm hubs” for those unable to afford energy.
The combined messages stress that Poland’s energy transition must balance environmental goals, public‑health concerns and affordable costs for consumers.
