Polish industry faces challenges in water management and defense sectors

A report by the Business for Climate Foundation highlights the evolution of Poland's water and sewage sector between 1996 and 2026. While the industry has achieved significant technological progress through EU funding, moving toward 'Industry 4.0' with artificial intelligence and advanced analytics, it faces new hurdles. The primary challenge has shifted from building basic infrastructure to ensuring the long-term durability and maintenance of existing assets amidst climate change and financial instability. There is also a growing divide between large enterprises with better access to financing and smaller companies facing organizational constraints.

In the defense sector, Polish companies are seeing increased opportunities for investment and export due to shifting geopolitical realities. Experts note that the current demand for defense products is expected to remain strong for at least five years. Polish firms, particularly those in the aerospace and automotive industries, are well-positioned to integrate into defense supply chains. Funding sources such as the European Defence Fund, EIB, and various national funds are available to support this growth, which includes both specialized military equipment and dual-use technologies.
