Polish jazz events spotlight local talent this August

The BOTO JAM series at Teatr Boto in Gdańsk will conclude its August schedule with a session led by pianist and composer Michał Ciesielski, joined by bassist Michał Bąk and drummer Maksymilian Kreft. The weekly Thursday jam, part of the Tricity jazz scene, features live improvisation with leading Polish jazz musicians.

At the same time, the BitterSweet Festival’s PKO Bank Polski Stage in Poznań blends jazz with classical music. Highlights include a big‑band concert by the Blue Note club, a performance by the hoshii collective (Kuba Więcek, Grzegorz Tarwid, Max Mucha, Miłosz Berdzik), and collaborations with the Warsaw Orchestral ensembles and accordionist Michał Stochel. The three‑day festival runs from 13 to 15 August, presenting a mix of jazz, hip‑hop, soul, and classical repertoire.

Both events reflect a growing trend of genre‑crossing collaborations and showcase the vibrancy of Poland’s contemporary jazz community.
