Polish Market Sees Rise of Chinese SUVs with New Models and Value Decline
Chinese automakers are expanding their foothold in Poland's compact SUV segment. The Chery Tiggo 7, priced at 95 890 zł, offers a 1.6‑litre gasoline engine delivering 147 hp, a seven‑speed dual‑clutch gearbox, and a spacious cabin with a 500‑litre trunk. Its dimensions place it firmly in the C‑segment, competing directly with models such as the Skoda Karoq.
At the same time, used Chinese SUVs are experiencing rapid depreciation. Data from Germany's DAT institute shows residual values for Chinese hybrids and electric SUVs falling by up to 20 % within a few months – nearly twice the rate of the broader EV market. Analysts attribute this to lingering trust issues, limited service networks, and consumer doubts about long‑term parts availability. While the lower prices create short‑term buying opportunities, owners face a steep resale loss.
