Polish media landscape sees influencer controversies and legal rulings

Several significant legal and social developments are unfolding within the Polish media and influencer sectors. In a recent court ruling, Sebastian Majtczak was sentenced to eight years in prison for a fatal accident on the A1 motorway that resulted in the deaths of a family of three. The non-final sentence also includes a 15-year driving ban and 2.5 million PLN in compensation for the victims' families.

In the influencer sphere, Sylwester Wardęga has addressed allegations regarding his past content, specifically the ‘Boobsman’ video, amid ongoing conflicts involving figures like Krzysztof Gonciarz. Additionally, culinary personality Robert Makłowicz revealed he declined an offer to participate in a freak fight event during a podcast appearance.

Furthermore, the Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) has imposed fines totaling 413,000 PLN on six promoters of the iGenius platform. In the sports sector, a dispute has intensified between boxing promoters Andrzej Wasilewski and Mateusz Borek regarding the organization of a fight between Karol Welter and Rafał Wołczecki.
